Of cylindrical, slightly tapering form, the cup fits securely into the deep central well of its saucer. The handles are attached to the upper part of the cup by two terminals. The domed cover is surmounted by a finial modelled as a leafy branch.
The first trembleuse cups appeared at Sèvres around 1759 and were probably designed for Madame de Pompadour.
