"MAROQUIN" is a sculptural box born from the collaboration of three artists.
Its body, crafted in chamotte stoneware, is the work of Clément Petibon. The gently domed lid, carefully polished and fashioned from wengé wood, creates a refined contrast with the raw, textured surface of the vessel.
The lid is surmounted by a jatoba seed, secured by a gilt-brass rod and embellished with small decorative gilt-brass beads. Naturally dark brown with a subtle lustre, the seed displays a gently irregular texture, while its inclined position imparts a sense of movement and asymmetrical balance to the composition.
The dialogue between the raw stoneware body and the finely polished wood creates a subtle and elegant visual harmony. The jatoba seed finial introduces a distinctive sculptural dimension, enhanced by the lacquered gilt-brass details that lend the work a precious quality. Organic inspiration is present throughout, both in the choice of materials and in the composition itself, evoking ethnographic objects reinterpreted through a contemporary artistic language.
