Individual drinking vessel designed for serving hot beverages, the cup is fitted with a vertical side handle of the characteristic "console" form. It has a cylindrical shape with a flat base resting on a slightly raised foot. The matching saucer, also with a flat base, stands on a discreet foot ring and features a gently sloping rim.
The Litron cup was introduced by the Vincennes Manufactory around 1752. Its design was inspired by the traditional tankard, a popular drinking vessel of the period, and reflects the growing popularity of tea, coffee, and chocolate throughout Europe during the 18th century.
Soft-paste porcelain.
The cup and saucer are decorated on a white ground with finely painted polychrome floral garlands suspended between two royal blue bands highlighted with gold stippling. The centre of the saucer is adorned with a flowering branch motif. The rims are finished with delicate gilt lines.
Marks : Hand-painted in underglaze blue with the "SÈVRES" factory mark.
Decorator's mark: "V".

Condition : Very good condition. Minute 3 mm enamel chip to the upper rim of the cup, professionally restored and virtually invisible to the naked eye.
