A charming oval porcelain brooch decorated on a white ground with a finely hand-painted polychrome bouquet of roses in delicate shades of pink and yellow, accented with small blue blossoms and vibrant green foliage. The refined floral composition reflects the romantic taste that flourished during the second half of the nineteenth century.
The porcelain plaque is set within an elegant oval gilt-metal mount, bordered by a slender inner gilt bezel and surrounded by a substantial twisted gilt-metal rim, imitating the appearance of a finely braided rope. This carefully designed setting enhances the delicacy of the porcelain miniature while providing a rich decorative frame.
The reverse retains its original spring-pin fastening, fitted with a rounded hinged clasp for secure fastening. The porcelain plaque is held firmly within the mount by four discreet retaining claws positioned at the cardinal points.
