Compact and rounded in form, almost architectural in appearance, the piece rests on a small integrated base. Its broad, gently swelling body retains a dense, stable silhouette. The lid forms a major compositional element, surmounted by a long horizontal sculptural form evoking a stylised animal—reminiscent of a reptile—rendered in relief with richly textured surfaces. This zoomorphic presence lends the work a totemic character and reinforces its sculptural dimension.
Each side features a distinct decorative composition.
The decoration envelops the entire surface in a dense interplay of motifs and textures. The dominant palette—muted greens, ochres, browns and blacks—is enlivened by touches of turquoise, blue and yellow, bringing light and contrast to the composition.
The first side presents a carefully structured composition. The upper section is decorated with a dark relief ground resembling woven or lattice-like patterns, from which emerge stylised vegetal motifs and spiral forms. A sinuous border frames and organises the entire composition. The principal scene appears within a central cartouche, where stylised, almost primitive figures inhabit an imaginary landscape. The lower section is animated by a repeating decorative frieze recalling a woven textile or stylised embroidery, while the base is decorated with flowing wave-like motifs that visually unify the entire piece.
The second side adopts a more enveloping composition, dominated by a broad undulating border that structures the surface like an organic frame. The upper section features a deep blue ground punctuated by stylised vegetal motifs arranged like a suspended frieze. Repeated forms—resembling leaves, flowers or flames—create a rhythmic yet freely expressive pattern. At the centre, a dark relief panel worked with a woven or interlaced texture serves as the background for a spiralling vegetal motif. Intertwining curved lines generate movement and depth, enhanced by subtle colour contrasts. The lower section introduces a figurative scene within a light-coloured cartouche, where stylised figures move through a landscape populated by vegetal and animal forms, their gestures suggesting an almost choreographed movement.
The base continues the flowing, repetitive decorative motif, creating visual continuity with the rest of the work and reinforcing the harmony of the overall composition.
