PARIS – HALLEY WORKSHOP – MILK JUG – EARLY 19TH CENTURY

Of baluster form, resting on a small, low circular pedestal foot. The generously rounded lower body rises towards a narrow neck before opening into a broad, flared pouring spout. The slightly raised handle is flattened in section.

HARD-PASTE PORCELAIN.

White ground decorated in polychrome enamels with a naturalistic ornithological scene depicting a bird perched on a branch, above a landscape mound animated with trees and foliage. The handle and pouring spout are entirely gilded, while broad gilt bands emphasise the borders.

Mark : “Halley”, hand-painted in gold,
