RARE COVERED BUTTER DISH WITH INTEGRAL STAND

PARIS

RUE AMELOT, PONT-AUX-CHOUX MANUFACTORY

Circular in form, the butter dish is positioned at the centre of a broad integral stand with a slightly raised rim. The cylindrical body, gently flaring outward, is emphasised at both its base and opening by circular moulded bands.

It is fitted on either side with two small raised ear-shaped handles framing a gently domed circular cover. The cover is surmounted by an upright rectangular finial of slightly arched form, designed for easy handling.

HARD-PASTE PORCELAIN

Decorated on a white ground with polychrome sprays of small roses, rosebuds and foliage arranged within a broad band. The decoration is enlivened by delicate scalloped gilt garlands forming a succession of graceful arches, punctuated by small gilt foliate motifs. Gold lines border the edges.
