Fine original panoramic intaglio engraving.
Anonymous.
The horses are depicted with different coat colours—bay, buckskin and dark bay—each captured in a subtly different pose, with one foreleg raised, suggesting a study of the walk or trot.
The artist paid particular attention to the horses’ anatomy, the modelling of their musculature, the positioning of their limbs, the expressions of their heads and the movement of their manes and tails.
Hand-coloured with polychrome watercolour highlights.
