SÈVRES – EXCEPTIONAL SWEETMEAT DISH ("DRAGÉES HOLDER") – FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

Formed as two joined shells, united at the centre by a palmette and a gilt bronze ring.

Hard-paste porcelain.

White ground decorated with gilt lines against a blue ground. The piece rests on a cruciform gilt bronze base.

An identical model was sold by Ader Auction House on 22 June 2018 (see the last image), and another example of the same form was sold by Doutrebente Auction House on 31 May 2013.

Dimensions : Height 23.3 cm – Length 29.5 cm – Width 25.5 cm

Marks : Blue Sèvres factory mark, dated 1834. (The bronze and wooden mount on the underside was removed in order to verify the factory mark and date.)

Condition : Perfect condition.

Period : First half of the 19th century – Louis-Philippe period.

Remarks : Minor wear consistent with age and use.
