The teapot is of the classic litron cylindrical form. It features a white ground decorated in polychrome with two perched goldfinches, one on each side, delicately painted on flowering branches. Fine gilt bands decorate the rims.
The teapot is surmounted by a unique contemporary lid created by the artist Isabelle Fustinoni. Crafted from oak, the lid is crowned with a sculptural composition formed of a stained boxwood branch adorned with coral beads suggesting small red berries, creating a subtle dialogue between the painted still-life decoration and the living sculptural form. This harmonious union of historic porcelain and contemporary creation lends the work a rare poetic and sculptural dimension.

We are delighted to present an exclusive collaboration with contemporary artist Isabelle Fustinoni, centred on the bespoke creation of sculptural contemporary lids for antique porcelain.
Each transformed piece creates a poetic dialogue between the refinement of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century porcelain and contemporary artistic expression. Conceived as autonomous sculptures, Isabelle Fustinoni's lids are crafted from brass, wood, shells, porcelain, and other noble materials, always responding with remarkable sensitivity to the original decoration.
This Orléans porcelain teapot, decorated with hand-painted goldfinches perched upon flowering branches, perfectly illustrates this artistic dialogue. The naturalistic decoration finds its continuation in the sculptural lid, where a graceful branch bearing clusters of vivid red berries appears to extend the painted composition beyond the porcelain itself. One can almost imagine the birds leaving the teapot to perch upon the sculpted branch and feed upon its fruit.
